What can a Wellness Coach offer?
A wellness coach can:
- Assist you in making positive lifestyle goals
- Work with you to discover what it is you really want and need to make your life happier and healthier
- Help you to find ways to break negative, habitual behaviours
- Encourage and support you along your journey
- Provide you with accountability
- Be your cheering squad celebrating your successes along the way
What can a Wellness Coach assist you with?
There are a vast number of areas Wellness and Lifestyle Coaching can assist you with. These include:
- Weight loss
- Healthier eating habits
- Increased energy and vitality
- Getting fit
- Reducing stress
- Increasing overall health
- Creating a healthier work-life balance
- Learning to say NO to demands on your time
- Identifying and learning to control cravings/unhealthy habits
- Improved sleep, waking up feeling refreshed and awake
- Feeling clearer, lighter and fitter in your body
Where does Wellness Coaching take place?
Coaching sessions are conducted in-person at Elk Wellbeing (North Fitzroy, Melbourne) or via Skype/phone.
Based on client experience, sessions held remotely are extremely effective so there's no need to worry if you're unable to travel. In fact many clients actually prefer Skype or phone sessions, as it allows them to process the session in the comfort of their own home.
How is Wellness Coaching different from working with a fitness trainer or nutritionist?
In addition to being an accredited and licensed Health & Wellness Coach, I am also a qualified Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor so you can be rest assured you are in safe hands.
The major difference between a Wellness Coach and a more 'focused' trainer is the scope of what is covered. As opposed to just focusing on one element e.g. nutrition or exercise, a Wellness Coaching approach is much more holistic and includes:
- Stress and coping mechanisms
- Sleep (or lack of)
- Life Balance (across all areas of your life)
- Overall health
The coaching approach also puts you in the driving seat of setting goals and prioritising what's important in your life. And unlike a Personal Trainer or Nutritionist you won't be given a one-size fits all plan to follow, but rather you will be part of creating a plan which is meaningful and self-motivating for you...and which will integrate into your life.
How long should I work with a coach for?
Each of us is different, but I have found that a time period of 3 months is an ideal time frame for creating sustainable and long term changes. For some clients, a 1 month Kick Start program is enough to get them back on track, but for others they require additional support.
The key is being able to learn how to handle the ups, downs and obstacles that come up. I have found clients experience more growth and greater levels of change when they commit to a longer time-frame.
Is there an opportunity to experience Wellness Coaching before I commit to a program?
Yes absolutely, and I would strongly encourage you to schedule in a FREE 30mins Wellbeing Strategy session.
These sessions are incredibly valuable to you as a client, and you'll get to ask all your specific questions, alongside experiencing what it would be like working with me. It's a no obligation 30minute session to help you decide what is the right approach for you.

Are the sessions recorded?
You are welcome to record our sessions together using a sound recorder or mobile phone (if using Skype), but I do not currently record sessions on behalf of clients.
Instead I will send you a summary sheet of key themes we covered, your specific obstacles/challenges and the strategies discussed to move through them. These summary sheets will also include a breakdown of your goals and next steps. This way you can focus 100% on our time together without worrying about remembering everything. Summary sheets are emailed out within 24 hours of our session together.
I have found these summary sheets a valuable tool in clients journeys.
